The Company
S.R.C. established providing Catalyst Handling Services in 1980, by means of Companies belonging to S.R.C. Consortium .
Since 1997 a new company inside the consortium, Unicat, started working as independent company only for Catalyst Handling activities, until we reached the excellence skills acknowledged by our Customers.
At present Unicat is able to provide Catalyst Handling services in all type reactors, including mechanical work under inert (N2 ) or air atmospheres.
Our Experience
Unicat's experience in Catalyst Handling includes all catalytic processes and reactors used in refining and petrochemicals manufacturing (Multi Stage Hydrocracking and Residual Refining; N-Paraffin and Paraxylene multi-bed UOP processes; Hydrotreating, Isomerization, Hydrogen Desulfurization; Ammonia Synthesis, HTS, LTS Converters, and Primary and Secondary Reformers; Catalytic Reforming, CCR; Sulphuric Acid Converters, Oleum Towers, and Demister neutralization; Ethylene Oxide, Acrylic Acid, VCM, Phthalic Anhydride).
The wide range of equipment includes specially manufactured machinery for services requiring continuous discharge of catalyst/support media, vacuuming, screening, with cooling/recycling of nitrogen, and also special customized equipments designed for some of our Clients. All our equipments are designed to reduce job completion time and guarantee the catalyst intact through all work steps.
Safety, Health and Environment
The flag-bearer of Unicat, in Catalyst Handling activities, is the attention towards mitigation of risks due to catalyst powders.
All of the Catalysts on the market contain heavy metals and/or chemicals dangerous for Health and Environment. These Catalysts, if not handled in a proper way, produce powders containing also big quantities of “thin powders”, very dangerous for people's health.
During the years Unicat has designed and manufactured, in its own workshops, a wide range of equipments for almost completely cutting powders production in working areas.
This excellence level, unknown for many competitors in Catalyst Handling, has been achieved through the continuous improvement of unloading and loading equipments. These equipments work by means of both powder separation and suction in points with diffusion risk, and assure health and safety to all the people present in working areas.
Last, but not least, we are proud to highlight Unicat's effort in reducing physical job in Catalyst Handling activities, by means of self-manufactured equipments for Catalyst drums handling.
Catalytic tubes
During the years Unicat acquired a very high skill in tubes Catalyst Handling, mainly for steam Reformer plants. We are able to offer unloading and loading services, both in “Sock” and “Dense” Loading, by means of our cooperation with Petroval.
Most qualifying items of our Catalyst Tube jobs are: job's set up and loading parameters control.
During the years we developed an effective tubes unloading and cleaning procedure, based on a special built milling machine, and also a special electronic pressure gauge, essential for a correct evaluation of loading conditions.
Preliminary inspections inside tubes are completed by means of high resolution video cameras, so that we can provide to our Clients a perfect description of tubes before loading.

The number of special jobs offered by S.R.C. Consortium (www.srcgroup.it), give us the chance to promptly reply to any need not strictly related to Catalyst Handling activities, and also to provide a wide range of services for industrial maintenance in refineries and petrochemical plants.
Furthermore, we can offer also all advantages of our ISO 9001:2000 (third party certificate available) and 14001:2004 (we will have a third party certification within 2008) organization.
